Sindhi Topi prior to Independence/Partition & how it has evolved in different zones where Sindhi reside.
Before 1947 Partition
More than 100 family photos of ancestors were reviewed and found either Sindhis wore Pag/Pagri (which is long cloth wrapped around the head) or they wore Hard Black cap with edges on the front and back. Common Sindhi men also wore white Gandhi topi to cover the head from Sun or for the look purpose.
Sindhi Topi in Sindh after partition
Embroidered Cap with arch shaped cut-out on frontal side is worn. This has roots in Saraiki & Balochi culture. There is no prominent trace of this Sindhi topi prior to 1947 Independence / Partition.
Sindhi Topi in India
Red coloured cap with Embroidery of Jhulelal Idol and words "Jai Jhulelal", "Ayo Lal, Jhulelal", "Amarlal Ki Jai" in Sindhi Language is widely being used by Sindhis. This is the most common cap worn during the Chaliha Festival (40 Days fast).
